Rule Changes for 2018-19 Season
Playoff End Date: Was: Until end of NHL regular season Now: Ignores last week of NHL regular season.
Conditioning Stints and Minor League Demotion: Was: Player could remain on minor team for the remainder of the season if sent down to AHL for any reason Now: Conditioning stints are exempt now. Player must be called up when called back up to NHL.
Penalty for Illegal Roster: Was: Something that negatively affected matchup results Now: Something that negatively affects matchup results and a $500,000 cap penalty to the offending team for the remainder of the season if the roster is illegal for more than 7 consecutive days.
Salary Cap Increase Method: Was: Real life NHL cap + 25 million Now: UDMFHL cap increases by the same percentage the real life NHL cap increases by.
Buyouts and Claims: Was: Buyout penalties remained in affect if player was added by another team. Now: Buyout penalties voided if player is added by another team.
Additional Buyout Option:Was: Buyouts were 25% of cap hit a year for the remainder of the players contract.Now: Total buyout penalty can now be taken all at once in a single year if the player is dropped before the all-star break.Consolation Bracket Determines Draft Position:Was: Non-playoff teams had draft position (outside of the 1stround) determined by inverse of standings.Now: Non-playoff teams have draft position (outside of the 1st round) determined by finishing position in the consolation bracket.
