The Proposal: So in looking over the league once again I notice that currently we have 10 skater categories and 5 goalie categories. I personally don't think that 2 out of 25 roster slots should be responsible for 50% of the points we accrue over the season, especially considering we are in voting at the moment to possibly remove a skater category. Obviously goalies are important but I don't think they should be responsible for so much of the scoring. My ideal ratio would be 30% or so.
I propose that we reduce the number of goalie categories by at least one, with my initial suggestion for removal being shutouts. It's a fluky, primarily luck-based stat that ends in a tie in most matchups.
Everyone gets two votes. One for yes or no and one for which category. Even if you vote no you should vote for the category you think should be removed if the proposal is approved by majority.

I have another league where there was the same problem. What we did is we combined Win + Shutout into Goalie Points (GPT) which is (1pt for an OT loss, 1pt for a Shoot Out loss, 2 pts for a win, 1 pt for a shutout). This way shutouts are still counted somewhere. I also very much disagree with removing saves!!! Having saves as a category adds another element to the strategy of how many goalies you want to run.

Pretty similar to goals or assists or saves or pretty much any other category. It is one of the options on fantrax so you can check it out.

So I looked into it and there is an option to add shutouts to the Wins category. So you get an extra point if the Win is a shutout win. I feel this would be an appropriate way to have both options if we remove shutouts but still want them to have an impact without being an entirely separate category.

I really like this idea, add a point for a shutout
